Now that another series has finished with another celebrity being crowned, we take a look at all the previous I’m A Celebrity winners since the show started.
Some series of I’m a Celebrity are more memorable than others, particularly since the show has grown in popularity throughout the years. One thing that has never changed is that there has always been a winner. We take a look at all of the previous I’m A Celebrity winners so you can pick out your favourites.
The Previous I’m A Celebrity Winners
2002: Series 1 – Tony Blackburn
In the first series, there were only 8 contestants and it only lasted for 15 days, so these celebrities had a little easier than some of the more recent ones. Either way, radio host Tony beat supermodel Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Christine Hamilton to be crowned the winner.
The show also aired in August and September, so not quite the Autumn timeslot that we’re all used to.
2003: Series 2 – Phil Tufnell
Upping the contestants to 10 for the second series, cricket player Phil Tufnell beat John Fashanu and Linda Barker to become the second king of the jungle.
This series aired in the spring, which wouldn’t have been in the nice warm Australian summer. We really recommend checking out the title sequences from the earlier series if you really want a giggle.
2004: Series 3 – Kerry Katona
Airing in early 2004, this series kept to its ten-contestant format and we finally had a Queen of the jungle. Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona beat Jennie Bond and Peter Andre to lift the crown. But we all know this series was famous for the Katie Price and Peter Andre romance…
2004: Series 4 – Joe Pasquale
This series started the format that we’re more familiar with today. We had 11 contestants, with two late arrivals and the show aired in November and throughout. Not quite the same but definitely a lot closer to the more recent series. Plus, fans got an extra series which is always a treat.
Joe Pasquale came out on top to become King of the jungle, beating Paul Burrell and Fran Cosgrave.
2005: Series 5 – Carol Thatcher
Next on our list of all the I’m A Celebrity winners, is journalist Carol Thatcher. She beat out actors Sid Owen and Sheree Murphy to claim the top spot.
In series 5 we reached the 12 contestants that we typically have in the more recent series, with contestants staying in the jungle for a maximum of 19 days.
2006: Series 6 – Matt Willis
This year saw the introduction of Snake Rock as well as the main camp. We had 12 celebrities who stayed for 19 days with 2 late arrivals — so very similar to what we have now.
Series 6 was a battle of the singers, with Matt Willis being crowned King of the jungle over Myleene Klass and Jason Donovan.
2007: Series 7 – Christopher Biggins
Although he was the latest arrival that year, Christopher Biggins won the heart of the nation and is our next I’m A Celebrity Winner. The actor beat Janice Dickinson and Jason Brown to lift the crown.
Although we were down to 11 contestants this year, the celebrities were in the jungle for an extra day.
2008: Series 8 – Joe Swash
We’re finally up to the 21 days that we know and love in Series 8, and Joe Swash outlasts them all to become King of the jungle. We still had the two camps, 12 contestants and late contestants — so they seemed to have settled on the format at this point.
Joe beat George Takei and Martina Navratilova to win series 8 of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
2009: Series 9 – Gino D’Acampo
Series 9 saw the return of Katie Price, a first for I’m A Celebrity, though she only lasted 7 days. Instead, TV chef Gino won against Kim Woodburn and Jimmy White to take the crown.
This year, we had 13 contestants, but 3 left before being voted out so it balanced itself out really.
2010: Series 10 – Stacey Solomon
Back with 13 contestants, and amp Sheila and Bruce instead of Snake Rock! This series had fan favourites Alison Hammond, Gillian McKeith and Shaun Ryder. However, none of them could win against Stacey Solomon who became the second Queen of the jungle.
Stacey married another I’m A Celebrity winner, Joe Swash, earlier this year. They have two children together.
2011: Series 11 – Dougie Poynter
Back with Snake Rock and Croc Creek, we had yet another King of the jungle in 2011. Dougie Poynter is another of the previous I’m A Celebrity winners. The singer beat Mark Wright and Fatima Whitbread to come in first, lasting the full 21 days.
2012: Series 12 – Charlie Brookes
This year was a tough call between Pussycat Doll singer Ashley Roberts and actress Charlie Brookes — but it was Charlie who became our third Queen of the jungle. This series also saw Helen Flanagan, who was repeatedly voted for by the public because of screaming, or refusal, to do trials.
Similar to the 2022 series, series 12 had Nadine Dorries MP as a contestant. She was the first to be voted out, so Matt Hancock has lasted longer than she did.
2013: Series 13 – Kian Egan
Although it was Kian Egan who joins all the other previous I’m A Celebrity winners, it was probably Joey Essex who was most memorable in this series. Be it seeing a dragon on a bridge, or being baffled by a stick insect, he brought a lot of entertainment for fans.
Nevertheless, Joey only made it to fourth place, with Kian beating Lucy Pargeter and David Emmanuel to win.
2014: Series 14 – Carl ‘Foggy’ Fogarty
This series pushed the stay to 23 days, with Jake Quickenden and Adam Thomas also making it the full stretch. However, it was Carl Fogarty who lifted the crown.
This was also the year that Gemma Collins left after two days. Fans have been calling for her return ever since.
2015: Series 15 – Vicky Pattinson
This series was absolutely iconic. Lady Colin Campbell and Tony Hadley constantly butting heads and Chris Eubank with his monocle.
But it was late arrival Vicky Pattinson who became Queen of the jungle. It was between her, George Shelley and another latecomer Ferne McCann, who lasted the full 22 days.
2016: Series 16 – Scarlett Moffatt
Scarlett beat comedian Joel Dommett and Adam Thomas to sit on the throne and became the next on our list of all the previous I’m A Celebrity winners.
This series had the City Celebs and the Jungle Celebs instead of Snake Rock and Croc Creek, but it made a swift return a year later.
2017: Series 17 – Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo
This series had Amir Khan stealing strawberries and Jack Maynard controversially leaving camp. However, it was Toff and Stanley’s friendship that took centre stage. The younger of the two went on to win, beating Jamie Lomas and Iain Lee.
2018: Series 18 – Harry Redknapp
This year had it all, Nick Knowles, Anne Hegerty and the dramatic entrance of Noel Edmunds (even if he only stayed a little over a week). However, neither of them could make the top three. Instead, Harry Redknapp beat Emily Attack and John Barrowman to become King of the jungle.
2019: Series 19 – Jacqueline Jossa
The last year in the jungle until the current series saw the soap star crowned over Andy Whyment and Roman Kemp. Other stars of this series included Cliff Parisi, Nadine Coyle and….oh, that’s right, Caitlyn Jenner.
2020: Series 20 – Giovanna Fletcher
The first year in the castle. It was dark, wet and there were no live shows on Saturday (Yes, we were shocked too). However, it was just as entertaining.
Giovanna beat Vernon Kay and Jordan North to become Queen of the castle. We had Olympians, acting legends and musical maestros this time around. We think they might have missed that warm Australian sun, though.
2021: Series 21 – Danny Miller
After two years of having Queens, Danny Miller won to become King of the castle. Currently, we’re back in Australia, so who knows if Danny will be the reigning champion of Wales forever more.
Danny beat Simon Gregson and Frankie Bridge to earn his crown, but also formed a close friendship with David Ginola, admitting to having a beat of a man crush on him.
