Since there’s no way to save another person’s story, the only way to keep it is to screenshot it. Do People Get Notified If You Screenshot Their Instagram Story?

If you screenshot someone else’s story, they will not be notified. It used to be that Instagram would notify users about this, but they no longer do. So, you can stealthily save memories, memes, and anything else that your friends share on their stories if you so choose. If you’re not sure if it’s something they would want to be saved, however, it never hurts to run it by them just in case.

You can also screenshot people’s posts and other content on Instagram and they won’t be notified. This can be helpful in a number of situations. For example, if a friend has tagged their location, you can screenshot it and share with other friends to surreptitiously plan a surprise.

If you screenshot someone’s story on Snapchat, they will be notified. In fact, if you screenshot any type of content on Snapchat, including messages, the person will know. You will be able to see the notification, too. A message will pop up in the chat that says “You took a screenshot!” So, you are free to save memories on Snapchat, but do so with the knowledge that the other person will be able to see.
