Curating your feed is a big part of social media. Sometimes you might scroll through old posts and see one that doesn’t really feel like you anymore. Or, you might just be changing the look of your feed or the type of content that you post. Whatever the case may be, you can tell it’s time to change things up. However, the post might still have great memories for you. Luckily, you can keep the post without others seeing it. So here is how to hide Instagram posts without deleting them.

How Does The Archive Feature Work On Instagram
The focal point of the Instagram experience is the photo grid. Not only do people want to post the perfect photo, with just the right filters and captions, but they also want to make sure it looks good next to the other photos on their grid. This could mean colour coordination, keeping with the theme of the profile, or posting related content. After all, your grid is what others look at when they view your profile, so it’s natural to want to make the best possible impression. And sometimes that might mean removing a photo, even if it’s one you’re fond of, to keep the grid coordinated.
Luckily, Instagram knows this can often be the case, and it has acted accordingly by introducing the archive feature. Archiving a post allows you to keep it in your profile and your memories while removing it from public view. That way, you can keep it private without deleting it completely.
How To Hide A Post Without Deleting It
Archiving a post is pretty straightforward and easy to do. To archive a post, open up the app and navigate to your profile by tapping the icon in the top right. From there, you’ll be able to see your grid. Select the photo you want to hide and then tap the three dots on the top right. A pop up menu will appear, and then you can select the ‘archive’ option. Now, the photo will no longer be visible publicly.
How To Repost An Archived Photo
If, however, you change your mind and decide you want the photo back on the grid, you can bring it back in a few simple steps. Go to your profile again and tap the three dots on the top right. Select ‘archive’ and then navigate to your posts or your stories, depending on what you want to repost. Choose what you want to take out of your archive, tap the three dots on the top right, and then select ‘Show on profile.’ The photo will appear back on your grid as if you had never hidden it.
