Doja Cat has announced she will not be taking up her spot on The Weeknd’s upcoming world tour because of severely infected tonsils.
Doja Cat took to Twitter on Friday night to tell fans that she will not be joining singer The Weeknd on his upcoming world tour. The rapper has also cancelled all festival appearances over the summer.
This comes after Doja announced on Thursday, May 19, via Twitter her left tonsil was infected since before she attended the Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs).
‘Bad News’ For Fans
Taking to the site, the star revealed she may have some ‘bad news’ for fans after the doctor removed and abscess from her tonsil.
‘He poked up in dere with a needle twice and then sucked all the juice out and then he took a sharp thing and cut it in two places and squoze [sic] all the goop out in dere. I cried and it hurt a lot but I’m ok.’

New Music Coming
The rapper was due to play Glastonbury and Wireless in the UK. Fans are sure to be upset at the news, however, fans can rest assured that new music will be coming soon.
In the statement posted to Twitter, Doja said she ‘can’t wait for this to heal and get back to making music’. This will be music to fans’ ears, as earlier this year, the rapper said she was retiring from music after an incident in Paraguay.
Doja admitted that she would be quitting her vaping for a while in a series of tweets saying it was ‘weird’ to ‘imagine all that weird poisonous’ stuff going into her body.
The rapper then opened up about her nicotine addiction in a series of tweets, stating that she was ‘addicted but not weak’.
Doja stated she was quitting her vape for ‘a while’ with hopes she would not need it for good after that. Fans flooded the singer with supportive Tweets, such as: ‘We love you Amala we want you healthy and here with us forever’.
It is not yet known who will replace Doja Cat on The Weeknd’s After Hours tour. The tour is due to kick off on July 8 in Toronto, Canada.
