The New Year is upon us, which means you might have already started to feel the added pressure of getting a fresh start and somehow improving yourself overnight. But don’t panic. There are some easy tips for sticking to your New Year’s resolutions if doubt is already setting in.

The new year doesn’t have to be all about fresh starts. It can be about welcoming in new ideas, new adventures and experiences, and letting go of things that don’t serve you anymore.

So while you don’t need to put any pressure on these new ideas, here are some handy hints to stick to keep them going for the long term.

Write them down

Do you have a journal, a diary or a random notebook in your drawer? Get it out and note down all of your New Year’s resolutions. Whether you have five or fifty. Writing them down can make it easier to remember your new year goals.

Put them on your wall

While there’s no need to be consistently reminded of your New Year’s resolutions every day, it’s important to be aware of them if you want to stick to them. Putting them on your wall or maybe even setting a list of them as your phone screen saver might make you subconsciously work towards them without even thinking about it.

Is one of your new year’s resolutions to start saving more? Maybe if you had it written in front of you then you’d question whether you actually need to buy something.

Make a mood board

Making a mood board can be a great way to visualise your goals. Log on to your Pinterest and start saving multiple boards. Fancy going travelling? Studying abroad? Graduating? Make a mood board and start visualising your dreams!

Manifest

Manifestation can be an extremely powerful thing! If you’ve written down your resolutions then manifest them! Recite them in your head while you brush your teeth, in the shower or when you’re just lounging around. Believe that you can achieve these goals. That these goals are real. Eventually everything will work out.

Be positive

Setting goals and then actually achieving them can sometimes be really difficult. To achieve them you have to remain positive and motivated. You’ll achieve more when you’re in a positive mindset, so keep smiling and believing that you can do it!

Whether your New Year’s resolution is to eat healthier, watch a whole series on Netflix in a day, or to graduate – you can do it! Believe in yourself and you will get there.
