How Many Times Have England Beat France Ahead Of World Cup Game?

England has to beat France to progress to the semi-finals of the World Cup. It’ll be our toughest game so far, but how many times have England beat France and can they do it again?

France have been incredibly dominant in the World Cup so far, and it’s England’s turn to face them on Saturday (December 10). The task is not impossible, but the former World Cup champions will want to hold on to their title from 2018 with everything they have.

But amidst Mbappe injury rumours and a strong England squad, it isn’t over yet.

How Many Times Have England Beat France?

Looking at previous matches between the two, the odds are actually in England’s favour. The two have battled 31 times before, with England winning a huge 17 times. France has only won 9 times and they have drawn 5 times.

However, 10 of England’s wins come from before their World Cup win back in 1966. If we’re looking at recent games between the two, then France have been the most triumphant.

Since 2000, the two countries have faced each other 7 times, with England having only won once. Those odds aren’t really in our favour, but the England team will know that. It is best to remember that it was France that England beat to win the World Cup in 1966.

Both teams have been strong in the competition and it’ll certainly be a match to watch no matter the outcome.

Just please not penalties.

Is Kylian Mbappe Injured?

One of England’s biggest threats is Kylian Mbappe, the tournament’s top scorer. The forward has been unstoppable so far in the competition and played the full 90 minutes against Poland at the weekend, scoring two goals to secure their win.

The team were given the day off on Monday to recuperate, with training starting again on Tuesday. However, The Sun reports that Mbappe was the only one missing, sparking fears that their star player was injured. The France coaching staff has insisted that he was doing recovery work in the gym, but his absence has definitely been noted.

The England team will certainly be hoping that the rumours are true as Mbappe will be on a one-man mission to guarantee France’s place in the semi-finals.

At the moment, he is expected the play the game.

It won’t matter how many times England has beat France if their star forward can get the ball in the back of the net.

When And Where To Watch The England vs France Game

The England vs France quarter-final is taking place on Saturday, December 10. Kick-off will be 10 am local time in Qatar, which is 7 pm GMT.

Some of the TV schedules have been moved over the weekend to accommodate the World Cup Games.

On UK television, the game is being broadcast on ITV. BBC will not be airing the event. The coverage of the England vs France game starts at 6 pm and is expected to finish at 9.30 pm. However, it’s more than likely that the game will run over.
