The TikTok algorithm is known for being incredibly good at finding out the type of videos a user wants to see. This is because it is tuned into the different actions you take on the app. This can be positive in many respects, since it doesn’t take too much effort to “train” the algorithm to show you something you’re interested in. However, it can also be inconvenient at times. After all, sometimes you just want to look up something once — not be stuck watching related content forever. One way to mitigate this type of situation is by looking at the search function. What you input into the search bar can have a significant impact on what you’re recommended. So, here is how to clear search on TikTok to get a fresh start.

How To Find Your Watch History
One key part of understanding why you’re getting the videos you’re getting on your TikTok For You Page is through your watch history. Watch history is one of those sneaky features that you might not realize is there, but can help make your experience of the app better once you find it. Looking through the feed of videos you’ve watched in the past, you can get a clearer picture of the different kinds of content you’ve seen, whether it’s something you’ve sought out yourself or something that’s been recommended to you. Ever wanted to rewatch a video you saw earlier but couldn’t find it? Watch history is a perfect solution to that problem, too.

To locate your watch history on social media, open the app and navigate to your profile on the bottom right of the screen. Then, choose the icon with three bars on the top right. From there, tap “Settings and privacy” and then “Watch history.” Then, the gallery of videos you’ve seen will appear for you to scroll through. To clear your watch history, choose the gear icon on the top right, and then choose “Clear history” and “Clear.”
How To Clear Search
You can also erase your data from the search bar if you want a fresh start on TikTok. To do so, select “Me” at the bottom of your home screen. Then, choose the three dots in the top right corner. Scroll down until you find the option to “Clear cache.”
From the discover tab, you can also navigate to the search bar and select “Clear all.”
