How To Do The TikTok Long Hair And Gender Swap Filter

Add as preferred source on Google

There are constantly new filters to try on TikTok to either make a fool out of ourselves or to try out a new look. That’s not going to change anytime soon, in fact, two are going viral currently with everyone having a go. If you’re looking to get involved but don’t know how then here’s how to to the TikTok long hair and gender swap filter effect.

In life, if you’re happy with your gender identity then you’re going to stick with it for the foreseeable. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t be curious about what the alternative is. Likewise, changing your hairstyle is a commitment, so deciding whether to grow your hair out or now is a big decision.

Once again, TikTok has come to the rescue offering the chance to see both using crafty filters. We’ve seen how to age ourselves with the old age effect, and even younger with the teenage filter. Now, there’s something a little different.

How To Do The TikTok Long Hair Filter

Make sure you have Capcut, TikTok and the Face App ready to go.

We recommend having a photo already saved of yourself, or whoever you’re trying the filter out on. You can take one through the app, but it’ll take longer to perfect. The important thing is to see the face (and hair!) clearly, and for the images to be as similar as possible.

To start, open the Face App and enable access to your photos and camera, otherwise, you’ll be stuck at the first hurdle.

Click on the gallery to bring up your photo library and select the photo you want to use. You may want to zoom in or crop the image to have the best effect. You want the face/hair to be clear and take up a good portion of the screen.

You’ll notice at the bottom of the screen will be a scrolling bar with lots of faces and effects. Simply scroll until you see the one labeled ‘hair.’ This will bring up a new menu where the first option next to the original says ‘long.’ Select that, and the person in the picture will get long hair!

It’s worth noting that to create the long hair effect you’ll need an original version of the photo too.

FaceApp may ask you to pay to download the image, but you can just sneakily take a screenshot to get the image with the filter instead.

To find the Capcut template, find a video that’s used the effect and you’ll be able to select it through there! Put your photos in, use your favourite sound and you’ll have your own long hair filter effect!

How To Do The Gender Swap Filter Effect

If just changing your hair isn’t enough, then there’s a TikTok gender swap filter effect too.

Doing this is very similar to the long hair filter. You’ll be using the same apps as before and make sure you’ve got a photo or some footage ready.

Go to the Face App once again, however instead of clicking ‘hair’ in the scrolling bar, you’ll go to gender instead. They’ll be two options for a male filter if that’s what you’re looking for; one will have facial hair and the other won’t. There’s then one version to look more stereotypically feminine.

Screenshot the results again and find a TikTok video that’s used the Capcut effect you want, or just use the same one as you did before!

If you’re trying out the male filters, you could even use them both to see which one you prefer or the one that makes you look the silliest.

Try both of these out and upload the results! Who knows, you may realise you should’ve had your hair longer all along!
