A cow that stands only two feet tall seems more like something out of a storybook than real life. But it turns out that miniature cows are a real thing, and they are ridiculously adorable. Miniature cattle that are roughly 1/3 the size of an ordinary cow have often been chosen by family farmers due to the cheaper costs of caring for them. There are 26 breeds of these cows, which produce about a gallon of milk a day. However, selective breeding has created a line of even smaller cows, known as micro mini cows. They are only about the size of a dog, and are kept exclusively as pets.

Videos of these tiny cows have received millions of views on TikTok, and it’s easy to see why. Not only is it entertaining to try to wrap your head around something that’s normally so massive taking on a miniscule form, but they’re fun to watch in their own right. In addition to being dog-sized, they also have personalities similar to dogs — playful, curious, and always eager for a treat. They love getting attention from humans and running around to their heart’s content.

Humans have always had a fascination with miniature animals. Particularly small chihuahua dogs, known as teacup chihuahuas can be as small as 6 inches in height. Miniature horses have been around for centuries, and are used as companions and service animals. Babydoll sheep, also known as Old English Southdown sheep, measure only two feet tall at the shoulder and make excellent pets and weeders. Teacup pigs, which are really just regular potbelly pigs, have become trendy pets. It seems that there is just something completely irresistible about a tiny version of all the classic farmyard animals.
