Pokimane took to her TikTok account to share a recent scary experience she had where she was almost scammed. The creator wanted to warn other accounts about the “frightening” situation.
Yesterday, content creator Pokiman shared her ‘frightening’ experience on TikTok to warn other young influencers about how clever scams are getting. Although she didn’t follow through with the troubling request, Pokimane spoke about how she was convinced that she was talking to a genuine company employee.
Pokimane Shares Her Experience
The TikTok creator uploaded the three-minute video to her six million followers, detailing exactly what happened. Since uploading, the video already has over 140k views.
“I don’t want anyone else to fall for this really weird influencer scam,” she said.
Pokimane goes on to say that she received an email supposedly from a company that she endorses, asking if she wanted some custom underwear. A follow-up email was sent with a detailed PowerPoint about the company’s new range.
Thinking that everything was legitimate, Pokiame went to take the measurements for the company, only to realise something was very wrong.
“I go to take my measurements and that’s when I look at the email with the diagram they sent me,” she said. “I realised that they weren’t showing me how to take my measurements, they were asking me to put a tape measure around me and send a photo of my bare chest.”
The scam was really elaborate
Not only had the scammer just pretended to work at the company. They had also created fake email addresses and a fake boss. At first glance, it’s clear to see that so many could be easily fooled into thinking they were the real company.
The PowerPoint sent to her was also 27 pages, showing that some serious effort had gone into the trick.
“The amount of effort they put in is both comical and frightening,” she said.
She goes on to worryingly speculate what might have happened if she had followed through with the requests. One of which was to give out her personal address.
“Please take this as a precautionary tale to really always do your due diligence with whoever you are working with online. Especially if you are a smaller creator.”

Pokimane, whose real name is Imane Anys, is a TikTok and YouTube creator who also regularly streams on Twitch. In fact, according to Dexerto, she is the most popular streamer in the United States. She is most notable for her League of Legends and Fortnite streams and is the most-followed female streamer on Twitch.
The Moroccan-Canadian content creator has over 6.5 million subscribers on YouTube where she regularly posts vlogs about her everyday life.
She also uses her TikTok account to post funny moments from her streams. Of course, she also takes part in the latest trends.
