Glasgow
If you want a university overflowing with history, culture, and student life, check out the University of Glasgow.
Established in 1451, Glasgow has been molding young minds for over 570 years. With two main campuses, Gilmorehill and Garscube, as well as numerous student halls, there’s plenty of room for the university’s 40,000 students to call home.
Once referred to as the “Oxford of Scotland”, Glasgow excels in medicine, engineering, and the arts. That said, with a diverse range of subject areas on offer, don’t discount it without doing your own research.
Student life in Glasgow is unparalleled. Popular bars and nightclubs include The Hive, The Shed, Sub Club, and Stereo. You also have Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and the Glasgow Cathedral for those quiet Sundays.
Notable alumni of the University of Glasgow include some big names. Hollywood superstar Gerard Butler went there, as did singer Emili Sande, comedian (and Strictly star) Susan Calman, and Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
With a student satisfaction rate of 85%, it is clearly doing something right.
