Snapchat has introduced a host of new features in the past few months. In particular, there are several features that are available to subscribers of Snapchat+, the app’s premium service. One of the most notable of these is the Ghost Trails feature. This feature in particular has received quite a bit of attention lately. What Is Snapchat+?
Snapchat+ is a subscription service where fans of Snapchat can get access to pre-release features before the general public, as well as exclusive parts of the app. Snapchat+ users can set custom expirations for their stories, rather than the standard 24 hour period that regular users have. They can also see how many times friends have rewatched their story, customise their notification sounds, add colour borders, and pin a friend as their BFF.
What Are Ghost Trails On Snapchat?
The other major feature of Snapchat+ currently is Ghost Trails. This feature allows users to see their friends’ location history for the past 24 hours. A yellow line will appear on the Snap Map showing the different locations the user has been to in that period of time along the route they took.
The feature has raised a number of concerns regarding privacy. As a result, certain precautions have been implemented into Ghost Trails. The feature does not work with any friend, but only those who have opted in to share their location with that user. If a friend has not enabled location sharing, their Ghost Trail will not be visible. To access the feature, all a user has to do is tap on the person’s Bitmoji.
How To Turn Ghost Trails Off
To turn Ghost Trails off, simply tap the Snapchat+ button. From there, you can toggle Ghost Trails off, as well as other features. This just means that you will no longer be able to see Ghost Trails from your account. Your own Ghost Trail, however, will still be visible.
To turn off your location sharing, you can tap your profile icon and then the settings gear icon. Scroll down until you reach the ‘Who can…’ section and then open the locations settings page. From there, you can choose whether you want your location to be visible to everyone, just friends, or no one at all.
