What Is A Platinum Birthday On TikTok?

Jasmyne Jeffery February 14, 2023

Everyone loves their birthday, and others recognise their half-birthday too. But now the internet is saying that the fun doesn’t have to stop there, with three more days worth celebrating too. So, what is a platinum birthday on TikTok, and golden and silver birthday too?

Sure, it might be Valentine’s day, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t anyone’s birthday or we can’t look forward to one coming up; particularly when there are other days that TikTok thinks we should be celebrating too. If you’ve not heard of them, then don’t worry we can tell you all the other days you should be showing a little extra love.

What Is A Platinum Birthday On TikTok?

According to the Urban Dictionary, your platinum birthday is when you turn the same age as the year you were born in. For anyone born post-millennium, it probably means you’ve missed yours already – so make sure to cut yourself a bigger slice of cake next time your actual birthday comes around.

If you’re a little confused, then here are a couple of examples. Say you were born in 2005, then your platinum birthday would be on your fifth birthday in 2010. This is because the year you were born in ended in 5, and you would have turned 5 in 2010.

For those of us a little older, if you were born in 1999, then your platinum birthday would be the year you turned 99, so 2098. Whilst those of us born then haven’t had our special birthday yet, we’ll have to cross our fingers that we’re able to celebrate.

However, a platinum birthday isn’t the only one TikTok is saying you should recognise especially.

What Is A Golden Birthday?

Turning to the Urban Dictionary once again, your golden birthday is when you turn the same age as your birth date. To explain a little more, this would use the day of the month you were born, instead of the year like your platinum birthday.

Here are a couple of examples:

Those born on November 24 would celebrate their golden birthday on the birthday they turn 24. Again, if you were born in the noughties then you’ve probably missed out on this one already as well. If only TikTok had been around earlier so you could have known. If you were born in 2000, then your golden birthday would have just been the day you were born; though that’s quite cool, you definitely wouldn’t have been aware or been able to eat more cake to celebrate.

What Is A Silver Birthday?

Last but not least, we all have a silver birthday a week according to TikTok. Backed up by the Urban Dictionary, is when you turn the same age as your birth month; chances are that we’ve all missed out on this one as it would only cover the first 12 years of your life.

Unfortunately, finding out all of this may have just shown you that you’ve missed out on all your special birthdays, which kind of sucks. We say hold an extra big birthday party next time you celebrate to make up for it all! It could be worse; at least you had your platinum birthday. Crossing our fingers for 2098 might be a little too optimistic…
