As Valentine’s Day creeps closer, our inner romantics are beginning to show. And whether you’re in a relationship or not, you can get involved with the latest viral edit on TikTok. Move aside coordinates for your first kiss, or receipts from your first date, we’re stepping it up and getting astrology involved. If you’re interested, here’s the TikTok moon trend and how to do it yourself.

What Is The TikTok Moon Trend?

The viral trend sees edits of two pictures of the moon come together to form one larger moon. What makes it special is that you use birthdays or yourself and a loved one.

If they come together to make a full moon, then supposedly the two people are soul mates. However, don’t be alarmed if yours don’t as it is only a bit of fun. Still, it creates a nice romantic image or video for you to treasure.

Even those who are single and proud or getting involved, using it for fictional characters to help their ‘shipping’ arguments. If that’s not your style, then there’s no reason why you can’t do it for platonic relationships too. A framed picture or a video of your two moons sounds like a sweet (and free!) Galentine’s Day present.

Although the edit looks tricky, it can be done by anybody. Plus, there’s more than one way to do it!

How To Do The Moon Trend With A TikTok Tutorial

First things first, you’ll need to get the images of the moon from the night the two people were born. One at a time, enter their birthdate on Google followed by ‘lunaf.’ Lunaf is the website where you will save the moon picture from for your edit. The pictures are great quality and have a clear background, so they’re easy to blend.

Once you have saved both images it’s time to edit your video/image. For this you’ll need either Picstart or Capcut, both will do the same job so it’s whichever you feel more comfortable using.

You’ll want to create a new project, add the pictures of the moon and then crop them to the desired size. On Capcut there should be a pre-made template to insert your pictures into. However, it that’s not the case or you’re not a fan, there are more options. Simply overlay one moon over the other and use splice and click lighten, making sure the moons are the same size.

Put a diamond at the start and end, adjusting the opacity so that they fade into one another. After that, you can add any text or lyrics and add a song of your choice!

If you would rather use the TikTok version, there here’s a Moon trend tutorial for that too.
