I just got a text. It says that Love Island 2023 is coming to our screens very, very soon. Though the UK weather may not make us feel like sipping cocktails and wearing bikinis, we can live vicariously through the cast of the 9th series of the dating show. With a bit of a new look and new couples to get obsessed with, it’s time to clear your schedule for the next few weeks.
When Does Love Island 2023 Start?
The show starts up again next week on Monday, January 16. Known as Blue Monday, the day has certainly been uplifted by the dating competition returning to our screens. On ITV2 as usual, the show will start at 9 pm and finish at 10.35 pm. The only bad thing with it being ITV is that we’ll have to put up with breaks (at the most crucial moments too!)
With Laura Whitmore leaving the show last year, the Love Island new host is none other than Maya Jama. Maya is famous for her BBC Radio 1 show and for presenting Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star on BBC 3.
She teased the return of the show last week with an…interesting promotional choice. Nevertheless, we’re more than excited to get started.
How Long Will Love Island Last?
Love Island typically lasts for a couple of months, and there’s nothing to suggest the winter 2023 edition will be any different. Just think, by the time it’s finished, we’ll have longer days and warmer weather; there’s not a lot better to see us through the rest of winter. Like the previous series, it’s expected that it will air every single night apart from Saturdays.
So, if your housemates aren’t the biggest Love Island fans, it’s time to convert them or buy them a few books to see them through.
And though this may not be the best news for them, you will be pleased to hear that ITV has confirmed that this year we are being blessed with two series of Love Island. Where Is Love Island 2023 Filmed?
The summer series will take place in the familiar villa in Mallorca. However, the winter edition is actually being filmed in South Africa.
Though the 2020 winter Love Island was also filmed in South Africa, this time round we have a new villa entirely. The show took to Instagram to show off the new location, and we’re not jealous at all. Not whatsoever…
With plenty of neon signs, pops of colour and comfy couches, the new islanders are in for a treat. Oh, and there are a couple of pools and sun loungers about as well.
