But The Weeknd fans had other ideas and on January 1, Blinding Lights over took Shape Of You to become the most streamed song on Spotify ever.
Blinding Lights is a cracker of the song. Whenever if speak to any of my runner friends, it’s always one they recommend as one to boost your speed. It probably wasn’t all runners that got the song to over 3 billion streams, but hey, it probably helped. The song was released in 2019 and has slowly been climbing the Spotify ranks and becoming a rival to Shape of You.
Currently, Shape of You sits on 3.338 billion Spotify streams, whereas Blinding Lights is just ahead on 3.345 billion streams.
