Everyone wants to think that they have good music taste, but unfortunately, that just isn’t the case. After the release of Spotify Wrapped, an AI analyzer has been released to judge the music you’re listening to. How Bad Is Your Spotify will look at your most-listened songs without any mercy, and here is how it works.
Spotify Wrapped tells us exactly what we’ve been listening to over the last year. In 2022, they introduced Spotify Wrapped personalities which shared a little bit more insight into our listening habits. However, it wasn’t really…judgemental. Sure, you can be a little ashamed of what your top song for 2022 was, or being in the top 1 per cent of an artist’s listeners, but you don’t have to tell anyone and it doesn’t have any consequences.
That’s where the How Bad Is Your Spotify AI bot comes in, who’s not afraid to tell you how it is.
What Is How Bad Is Your Spotify?
How Bad Is Your Spotify is an AI bot that judges your music taste on either Apple Music or Spotify, created by Matt Daniels and Mike Lacher as The Pudding publication.
When beginning the test, the bot informs you that it’s trained with two million of indicators of “objectively good music.” It looks at subreddits, Pitchfork reviews and record-store recommendations. However, there isn’t any further detail into how it specifically judges good music taste from bad music taste. As with anything in the arts, it’s all pretty subjective — but that doesn’t mean you won’t be judged anyway.
At the end of the test, you’ll be given a number out of 100, the higher the percentage the better your score.

How Does How Bad Is Your Spotify Work?
How Bad Is Your Spotify is actually called How Bad Is Your Streaming Music and works for Apple Music users too.
The bot will give you a brief explanation of what it is and does, before asking you to give your Spotify or Apple Music login. This will give it one-time access to your recently played, and it won’t be able to change or post anything.
Once it’s in, it will then give you some sassy comments along the lines of “You don’t actually listen to [enter song], do you?” Before asking if you’re listening to it ironically or seriously.
You may get a couple of other questions before you’re given a score at the bottom — an actual judgement on your music taste.
Users React To The Sassy How Bad Is Your Streaming Music AI
People love to be roasted, especially when it doesn’t actually mean any harm. Users immediately went over to the bot to finally have a definitive answer. It was time to find out whether their music taste was good or not. Let’s just say that lots of them weren’t exactly pleased with the results.
Those who tried the app didn’t realise quite how savage the AI would be and it had some hilarious effects.
Those who aren’t even that basic were still getting roasted. So, it seems like you can’t escape judgement from the How Bad Is Your Spotify bot.
Although it’s definitely a little harsh, it can’t be denied that it is accurate…
Maybe you’ve been inspired to find out for yourself, or the savage responses might have put you off. Either way, you can’t deny that How Bad Is Your Streaming Music is giving us something Spotify isn’t. Whether that’s bad or good.
