It seems like there’s a new trend every day on TikTok. However, a new editing app is capturing users and taking over the app. Don’t worry, we’ve got the low down on how to do the Capcut trend on TikTok 2022.

You may have seen a new kind of trend on TikTok lately. No, it’s not anything to do with Taylor Swift or glitter, but simply editing your videos. A new app, Capcut, allows users to edit TikToks in a really easy way, giving your videos that extra edge. So, even if you’re a beginner to the editing world, everyone else will think you’re a pro.

What is CapCut?

CapCut is a video-editing app owned by TikTok parent company, ByteDance. It’s available on both iOS and Android and is free to download. Although there are some in-app purchases if you want access to the full range of editing tools, we think the free ones are more than enough to get some snazzy videos.

You can sign into/create an account with CapCut which is linked to your TikTok so all your projects can be automatically uploaded to your profile. However, your projects save to the front page even without signing in. One thing that sets this app apart from other video-editing apps is its music-using features. For example, you can use purchased music on iTunes and use that in your videos. Furthermore, using TikTok sounds is as simple as clicking the TikTok icon and finding the one that you want.

How to do the Capcut trend on TikTok 2022

The app allows you to do countless edits of your videos and TikTok certainly demonstrates that. There doesn’t seem to be one specific edit that is trending more than others. The trend is more about sharing the love for the app which is revolutionising the social platform.

Getting involved couldn’t be simpler. Just film a normal video or two, click ‘new project’ on CapCut and import your first video. You can split the video, speed up or slow down certain parts, or even overlay text, revealing as someone walks past. The best way to learn is to download it and have a go yourself.

One of the popular edits isn’t using videos at all. Users are using the app to quickly cut several photos together to show memories of a concert or a single month. With 2022 quickly coming to an end, it’s the perfect opportunity to compile your favourite moments of the year into one cheesy video.

Simply import all the pictures you want to use, drag them into the edit timeline and adjust the length of time the picture is taking up. The shorter the length, the snappier the edit. Then, choose your music of choice and upload to TikTok. You can add different edits to each photo if you really want to. But, if you’re a novice and just watch a cute recap, then you don’t have to do any more than that.

Our CapCut favourites

We’ve scoured TikTok for our favourite examples of users using CapCut so you can feel inspired and have a go yourself.

This one is a great example of a 2022 recap video. We’re not sure ours would be quite so glamorous, but it definitely gives you the idea.

This one is slightly different to the above as it splits one original video, slowing down different parts of it. The effect is really great and just adds that little something to make it stand out.

CapCut themselves have their own TikTok account where they show just some of the things you can do with their app. They post loads of tutorials and even the odd competition if you’re Capcut-obsessed!
