Having gone from musical theatre star to recording artist and back to starring on a hit TV show, Reneé Rapp has a new single under her belt. Fans have been waiting on tenterhooks for her new album to be released. However, what they saw on Instagram from the singer was not what they expected.
Who Is Reneé Rapp?
Reneé Rapp made her name playing Regina George in the Broadway musical Mean Girls. She is also set to reprise the role in the upcoming film version of the musical. Another acting credit Rapp has is her role as Leighton Murray in the HBO hit show The Sex Lives Of College Girls.
In 2022, Rapp began releasing her own music as well. She released four singles, Tattoos, In The Kitchen, Don’t Tell My Mom and Too Well. Her first EP, Everything To Everyone, was released in November 2022 and was well received.
New Single Release
On 5 May, Rapp posted a long letter to her fans describing the process she has gone through to write her upcoming album. She said, “I spent 4 months writing nearly every day. I spit out all my concepts, all my ballads, my f*** you’s and my I love you’s.”
However, the second half of her letter informs us that the original single for the album has since been changed. Rapp explains that she went through a “traumatic experience” last year and that, although she had tried to write about the experience before, “it just wasn’t sticking”. However, one night, Rapp and her friend stayed up all night and created SNOW ANGEL.
After sending the new song to her manager, it was decided that the “other single was out, snow angel was in.”
Rapp concludes, “I have never been simultaneously so proud and scared of a song in my life… this was all supposed to happen this way, and this was the song you were supposed to hear first.”
When Is Renee Rapp’s New Album Released?
Renee Rapp’s new single SNOW ANGEL came out on 9 June.
Her upcoming album of the same name will be released on 18 August.
