People Ask 'Is Twitter dying' Or 'closing down' As Musk Reportedly Shuts Offices

Fans of Twitter have taken to the social media app after concerns that Twitter is dying. The issues started when billionaire Elon Musk took over the platform and made some unfavourable decisions. Now, it is being reported that offices are being closed.

The BBC are reporting that Twitter offices have been shut with immediate effect and will not reopen until next week. Although no official reason has been given for the temporary closure, it comes amid reports of a mass exodus of staff who have resigned from the company.

The message, seen by the BBC, said:

“Effective immediately, we are temporarily closing our office buildings and all badge access will be suspended. Offices will reopen on Monday, November 21.”

Earlier this week, The Washington Post reported that Elon Musk had demanded staff sign a pledge to work harder or accept three months of severance pay. The newspaper goes on to say that a much larger number than Musk anticipated refused to sign the pledge, and he eased a return-to-work mandate issued the week before.

After laying off staff earlier this month, it is reported that Musk has lost around 1000 members of staff since taking over. Employees took to Twitter with the hashtag #LoveWhereYouWorked to show that they were leaving the company and their sadness at what it had become.

Fans ask ‘Is Twitter Dying’ Or ‘Closing Down’

Some users of the app have taken to Twitter to express their sadness at the prospect of it shutting down. After all, many use the unique capabilities of the platform to connect with others that share passions and interests. Users have pointed out that there isn’t really anything else like it that has the same popularity.

It seems like even out of the fire, there’s no love gained for Meta from Twitter users.

Immediately, fans fled to Twitter to ask ‘is Twitter closing down?’ in the hopes that someone would have an answer, and not just scream into the chaos like everybody else.

Unfortunately, there’s only really one man who can answer that question and his response were, well less then profound. Whilst we can’t criticise Musk’s self-awareness, maybe now isn’t the time to be joining in on the memes.

The Last Hurrah For Jokes And Memes.

And others are using these moments for a time of confession.

It’s uncertain what the fate of Twitter will be in the long run. Musk’s tenure as CEO has certainly created a lot of drama, but has it sunken the ship? In the meantime, get all your other socials out there, you know, just in case…
