Add as preferred source on Google

Now that the craze of wrapped 2022 has worn off, the music streaming service needs something else to get users and more talking. Introducing Spotify Playlist in a Bottle. The time capsule feature is brand new and has fans obsessed already. If you want to get involved we can tell you how to create your own time capsule.

The thought of creating a time capsule or finding a message in a bottle has crossed everyone’s mind. Normally, you’d have to do some burying or find yourself on a deserted island, which is quite hard to organise. Spotify have made your curiosities easier than ever and have even added a modern twist. Don’t worry, you won’t have to wait decades to re-discover it, but you will have to be a little bit patient.

What Is Playlist In A Bottle On Spotify?

The time capsule feature lets you create a playlist of three songs or more based on your musical answers to questions.

The interesting thing about it is that you can’t open it until January 2024. So, you’ll have to wait a whole year to unlock it and see what your answers were in January 2023. It’s a great trick to keep users engaged and make sure they keep their accounts until at least early next year.

It seems like another feature that will make Apple Music users regret their choice.

How To Create A Spotify Time Capsule

It’s not surprising if you want to get involved, and it couldn’t be easier.

You can head to the Spotify Playlist in a Bottle website where you’ll need to scan a QR code on your phone or enter the URL on the home page. Or, you can just go into the mobile app if you already have it downloaded.

You’ll then be prompted to create your Spotify Playlist in a Bottle by either a pop-up or an icon on your home page. Click it, and get started.

The first question will be whether you want your Spotify Time Capsule contained in a teddy bear, a bottle or a lunch box. This won’t affect the songs that go on your playlist. After that, you’ll be given three questions and the answer will be a song. Questions include a song you need to hear live in 2023, a song that reminds you of your favourite person, or one that’s a guilty pleasure.

There are more than three questions available, so just keep refreshing and answer as many as you want. Each answer will add the song to your Spotify Playlist in a Bottle. Once you’re happy with your choices, you then have to lock it. Spotify will then tell you that your playlist has been sealed in January 2024.

Fans are already loving the feature and sharing it on Twitter.

If you’re a Spotify user, it’ll be hard not to get involved as everyone keeps sharing their playlists. If you’re not a Spotify user, then this is just another feature you’ll have to miss out on.
