The Wes Anderson TikTok Trend Makes You The Main Character

Add as preferred source on Google

We all have moments where we want to feel like the main character, but a TikTok trend is helping us do just that. Using the filmmaker’s distinctive style on moments from real life, the Wes Anderson TikTok trend is turning your everyday moments into a movie scene.

Looking out of car windows in the rain, sitting alone whilst reading at a coffee shop, listening to soundtrack music whilst power walking; there are lots of ways to emulate that main character feeling. Well, TikTok has made it even easier, inspired by the works of director Wes Anderson. Now, many people are living their best lives as the star of their own life.

Who Is The Director And Screenwriter?

Wes Anderson is a 53-year-old American filmmaker most famous for his films The Grand Budapest Hotel and the Royal Tenebaums.

Born in Texas in 1969, Anderson’s first film was Bottle Rocket in 1996. Two years later he released Rushmore, working with brothers Owen and Luke Wilson on both. It wasn’t until 2001, however, that he was universally recognised. It was for The Royal Tenebaums and received his first Academy Award nomination for Original Screenplay.

Since then, he made the stop-motion feature Fantastic Mr Fox, as well as more recently, Isle For Dogs and The French Dispatch.

His next film, Asteroid City, is due to be released in June 2023.

The Wes Anderson TikTok Trend Explained

The director has quite a distinctive style, using wide shots, title cards, symmetry and colour palettes; summarised really as quite romantic.

Anyone who has seen his films will know what it is, and you’ll get an idea from the great examples we will show you.

A little eccentric and very distinctive, the Wes Anderson TikTok trend will romanticise moments of your life you thought to be pretty mundane.

With a good imagination, everything is symmetrical. Let a girl day dream! #wesanderson

Videos getting involved start with the text ‘You better not act like you’re in a Wes Anderson film,’ or some variation of that. Of course, what follows is exactly that.

People have been using music from his films, especially The French Dispatch, to really emphasise the Anderson effect.

The Wes Anderson hashtag now has over 560 million views, with hundreds of videos attached to it.

The above video is supposedly the one that started the trend, and now everyone is getting involved. It’s slightly more artistic than the recent one, two buckle my shoe trend on the platform. However, there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy both.
