The weirdly heartfelt comedy thriller, Dead To Me, hit our screens in 2019 and now its third and final season has aired on Netflix. Fans of the show are heartbroken at the ending but what happens at the end of Dead To Me? Lets’ go through it.

What Is Dead To Me?
Dead To Me is a Netflix show that follows two women and their blossoming friendship. Jen meets Jude at a grief support group, and they begin to form a strong bond.
However, as the seasons progress, it is revealed that Judy was the one driving in the hit-and-run that killed Jen’s husband, Ted. This secret, and its revelation, takes up most of season one.
Season two begins with the murder of Judy’s ex-husband Steve. Despite telling Judy that she killed Steve in self-defence, it turns out that Jen killed him in a moment of rage while Steve was telling her that Ted jumped in front of Judy’s car because he wanted to get away from her.
Dead To Me Season 3 Ending Explained
Season 3 continues as both Jen and Judy try to hide their respective murders while also living as normal a life as they can. Steve’s twin brother is still in the picture and Jen is getting closer to him as the weeks progress.
In regard to the crimes, respected FBI agent Glenn Moranis takes over Steve’s case and begins investigating Jen and Judy. However, in the penultimate episode, Moranis is found dead in his apartment by Detective Perez who steals the files on Steve’s case. She then destroy the files and puts his murder down to the Greek mafia – whom Steve had stolen money for.

While this is all going on, it turns out that Judy has ovarian cancer, stage four. She goes through intensive chemotherapy, with Jen by her side. However, the chemo doesn’t work and Judy’s time becomes limited.
The final episode sees the two best friends drive to Mexico and live as they please for three weeks. Ultimately, Jen leaves Judy to die peacefully on her own. Jen goes home to live her life with Steve and her three children.
Liz Feldman, the creator of the show said that the pandemic was influential in the writing of the final season. She said “the constant nagging feeling that the world might be pulled out from us at any moment shaped how I approached writing about grief… you don’t get all the answers, and you never quite know when it’s coming.”
