Although a product of the mid-noughties, Skins has been timeless through the teen problems it addressed. Lots of the stars are very familiar to us now, but others have drifted out of the spotlight. With the 16-year anniversary of its start date coming up, we look at where are the cast of skins now. Those in the first generation of the show captivated our screens, including initial star Mike Bailey as Sid.
When Skins started, it was like nothing else before. The show started in 2007 and ran until 2013, propelling lots of its young stars into Game of Thrones, Hollywood and more. Names like Nicholas Hoult and Dev Patel who played Tony and Anwar, are household names now, but some other stars you might not have heard about since the show ended. We can tell you where the stars of Skins are now.

Some have gone on to starring roles, but others’ fame peaked in Skins.
Kaya Scoledario As Effy Stonem
Kaya played Tony’s little sister Effy. After making appearances in generation one, she became the star of the second generation. Immediately after Skins, Kaya went on to star as Teresa in The Maze Runner trilogy alongside Dylan O’Brien and Thomas Brodie-Sangster.
The actress then appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales as well as a film adaption of the game Resident Evil. Only last year did Kaya star alongside Alfred Enoch in This Is Christmas.
In her personal life, the 30-year-old is married to actor Benjamin Walker. They have two children together.
Hannah Murray As Cassie Ainsworth
Troubled Cassie fell straight into our hearts, as well as Sid’s when she starred in Skins. Along with most of the first-generation stars of Skins, she departed the show after the second series.
From 2008 to 2012, Hannah had smaller roles on TV and film but also debuted on stage. The actress played Mia in The Face, a role which received much critical acclaim.
From 2012 to 2019, the Skins star played Gilly on Game of Thrones. After initially having a recurring role in series 3 and 4, her character was promoted to the main cast until the show ended, appearing in 33 episodes altogether. Her character was a mother impregnated by her own father who finds protection in Samwell Tarly.
During her time on the show she also had starring roles in smaller films, including the Danish film, Bridgend. The film won her a Best Actress award at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Since 2020, Hannah hasn’t had any notable roles.
Joe Dempsie As Chris Miles
Before becoming a star of the first generation of Skins, Joe had had smaller roles on shows such as Doctor, Peak Practice and Doctor Who.
Like Hannah, Joe went on to have a role in Game of Thrones, yet his role was more prominent. The 35-year-old played Gendry Baratheon from 2011-2013 and then again from 2017-2019.
You may also recognise him from This Is England 86′ and This Is England 90′ as Higgy.
More recently, he starred in the TV show Pieces of Her alongside Toni Collette.
April Pearson As Michelle Richardson
April is probably most well known for playing Michelle on Skins, the notorious girlfriend of Tony Stonem. The role saw her nominated for a Golden Nymph award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series at the Monte Carlo Film Festival.
After a stint in theatre, Michelle has favoured independent and horror slasher films. She starred in Fractured and Caught as the villainous Mrs Blair, which received critical acclaim. Her role as Amy Dark Beacon saw her win two Best Actress awards.
On TV, she’s had multiple smaller roles in shows such as Casualty and Doctors. In 2017 she married a film writer Jamie Paterson with whom she has a child with.
Where Is Skins Star Mike Bailey Who Played Sid Now?
Any fan of Skins will know who Sid is. Although he didn’t get a focused episode until the second series, much of the first is seen through his eyes. Sid Jenkins was the best friend of Tony, who gained a close connection to tormented Cassie. Sid was a loveable character who had good intentions but low self-esteem, however by the end of his stint on the show he becomes more independent and confident.
Since leaving Skins, Mike appeared in a couple of projects before retiring from acting in 2017 after completing His and Hers, a web series.
He is now a drama teacher in a Secondary school. In his personal life, the 34-year-old got married in 2015.
So, the stars of Skins have gone on to have varied outcomes since being in the teen drama. With the anniversary soon coming up, it’s as good an opportunity as any to get binging the first generation and more all over again.
