Netflix released Season 4 of Youn today (February 9), introducing a new romantic lead, Kate played by Charlotte Ritchie. If you’ve binged the TV already (we don’t blame you) and want more of the You actress in your life, we can help. We answer who Charlotte Ritchie is, as well as what TV shows she’s been in.

Honestly, we’re pretty proud if you’ve already started on the next series of Netflix’s You, let alone finished it.

After moving to England to start over, leaving his son Henry behind, it seems like Penn Badgley‘s Joe isn’t staying out of trouble for long. In fact, season 4’s Kate catches his eye pretty soon. If you’ve had a niggling feeling that you’ve seen her before, or just want to see more of her, then we can tell you when and how.

Who Is The You Season 4 Actress Playing Kate?

British actress Charlotte Richie plays Kate in Season 4 of You.

The 33-year-old from London began her acting career back in 2004 where she starred alongside Michael Sheen in the short film, The Open Doors. After a few uncredited roles, she appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2006.

Alongside filming in her early career, Charlotte gained a degree in English and Drama and the University of Bristol.

In smaller roles, Charlotte has appeared in The Life of Riley, Private Lives and Doctors.

The TV Shows Charlotte Ritchie Has Been In

Whilst the actress may not be a big name across the pond (that may change with You Season 4!) she’s starred in lots of well-loved British TV shows.

Call The Midwife

One of the first things that brought Charlotte into the spotlight was her role in BBC’s Call The Midwife. The actress played nurse Barbara Gilbert, who joined the show in series 4 back in 2015. After 3 years, Charlotte left the show and her character was tragically killed off in what might have been the saddest episode of the show.

Her time on the show saw her travel to Africa, marrying curate Tom Hereward after he was meant to marry Trixie. Unfortunately, not long after this, she is diagnosed with septicaemia which eventually lead to her death.

Charlotte Ritchie Starred In An Episode Of Doctor Who

You can’t get much more British than Doctor Who. The actress started in the first New Year’s Day special of Jodie Whittaker’s run, playing Lin. The episode, Resolution, saw her character discover a Dalek mutant, who managed to take control of her body to carry out its evil plan.

Eventually, the Doctor manages to release her. She then helps to save the day and even ends up with a date at the end. A pretty good day, if you ask us.

Fresh Meat

Her first big show, it was during filming for Fresh Meat that Charlotte also studied for her degree.

The actress played Melissa Shawcross across 30 episodes, spanning 5 years. The series follows a bunch of freshers students beginning university. Charlotte played a literature student from a privileged background who starts a relationship with her lecturer, and later on his son.

After her final year goes from bad to worse, she ends up moving to Laos with Vod (Zawe Ashton) to write a novel.

Charlotte Stars In BBC’s Ghosts

A BBC smash-hit comedy, Charlotte plays the main character Alison in Ghosts. Alison inherits a big country house from a distant relative and starts seeing all its ghosts after a fall. Deciding to take on the house and renovate it with her husband, Mike (Kiell Smith-Boyne) the two attempt various businesses with the house, which the ghosts often get in the way off.

Currently, the series has four series with a fifth in the works. Proving popular with British audiences, HBO commissioned an American version. Starring and written by the cast of CBBC’s Horrible Histories, the sitcom features ghosts from different historical periods.

Season 4 of You is the first time Charlotte has starred in a Netflix original. Hopefully, it will bring the talented actress to more fans across the globe. We don’t know what her fate will be yet, with part two of the show released next week. If you can’t wait until then to see the actress, then chose any one of the TV shows above to get your fix.
