It’s literally only a couple of months away and today (February 22) our hosts presenting Eurovision 2023 have been announced. Whilst there certainly are no surprises with some of the stars, actress Hannah Waddingham is amongst the few taking on the gig. If you’re thinking you’ve seen her on TV before or her name sounds familiar, we can give you all the details.

It’s time to get your scorecards, glitter and ‘good’ biscuits ready as we’re officially on the countdown to the hottest event of the year. The UK is hosting Eurovision! Whilst this isn’t exactly news, who is hosting the show in Liverpool is. After many guesses, the lineup has finally been announced.

Who Is Presenting Eurovision 2023 In Liverpool?

Officially confirmed this morning, our celebrity hosts are Graham Norton, Alesha Dixon, Hannah Waddingham and Julia Sanina, representing Ukraine.

The live shows will begin with the first semi-final on Tuesday, May 9. The contestants will then be narrowed down until the Grand Final on Saturday, May 13. Last year, Ukraine topped the competition but were sadly unable to host it due to the war. As the UK came second with Sam Ryder, they have stepped up to help up, whilst still reminding us that it’s Ukraine’s party, we’re just hosting it.

Whilst we all know Graham Norton as a Eurovision icon, and Alesha Dixon from her BGT (and more) gigs, Hannah Waddingham may be more unfamiliar to some.

Who Is Hannah Waddingham Amid Eurovision Announcement?

Hannah Wadingham is a British actress and singer. She is best known for her role in Apple TVs Ted Lasso as Rebecca Welton. She was also in series 5 and 6 of Game of Thrones as Septa Unella, the “Shame Nun.”

The 48-year-old also had a supporting role in Netflix’s Sex Education as Jackson Marchetti’s mother and appeared in Hocus Pocus 2 as the Witch Mother. Appearing in smaller on-screen roles until then, Hannah is also well-known for her stage work.

Performing on both the West End and Broadway, Hannah has received 2 Oliver Award nominations. The first for Lady of the Lake in Spamalot, and a second in 2010 after her performance in Night Music.

It’s since Ted Lasso became hugely popular that the actress’ name has shot into the spotlight. Starting in 2020 and a third series due later this year, Hannah has won multiple supporting actress awards for the role. This includes an Emmy win and a Golden Globe nomination in 2021.

Now, the actress and singer will be turning her attention to presenting! It hasn’t been confirmed what parts each of the 4 hosts are presenting for Eurovision. However, we can be certain to see Hannah during the broadcast. Ted Lasso is such a huge global success. We expect much of the Eurovision audience will be very glad to see the star on their screens.

There’s not much left to find out about the highly anticipated competition coming to Liverpool. Really, all there is to do is wait!
