So, it’s understandable if you’ve lost touch with all the other symbols and icons all over Snapchat. After all, there are *lots* of them.
One confusing many at the moment is an X being next to Snapchat names, but we can tell you what that means.
Why Is There An X Next To Snapchat Names?
If there is an X appearing next to people’s Snapchat names, then that usually means the two of you aren’t actually friends.
You can be seeing an X for a number of reasons, even if you think the two of you are friends on the popular social media app. Firstly, the symbol will appear until the request is accepted.
If that person hasn’t yet accepted the request or you haven’t approved theirs, then you’ll see the letter. That will be the case whilst it’s pending. You can check the status of the request by clicking on their Snapchat name. Here, you can accept it right there and then.
If you’ve been chatting with someone and decided that you don’t want to talk to them again, then clicking the X can help. By tapping the symbol, you can delete the chat and block the user.
Unfortunately, if you are certain that the two of you were friends, then an X next to their Snapchat name means they’ve unfriended you. Ouch.
Of course, you can send another request, if you think it was a mistake. But, that could get a little awkward if they don’t respond…
What Else The X Could Mean
Although the above reasons are the most common, some users have said that it can also mean something else.
