Did Instagram Get Rid Of Notes? Potential Fixes After Feature Disappears

Jasmyne Jeffery March 16, 2023

One of the app’s newest features, Instagram users have taken to Notes and more. Sharing funny limited messages without the hassle of DMs is clearly something we didn’t know we needed. That’s why it’s incredibly frustrating for those who have logged on to find it gone. We look at if Instagram did get rid of Notes and possible fixes if you can’t find it.

It’s been one of its most talked about introductions since Instagram brought in stories which revolutionised the social media platform. Though some haven’t taken to it, you can’t deny that it hasn’t been popular, with everyone looking for hilarious Instagram Notes ideas to show off to their friends.

However, after some users noticed that Notes had disappeared, it left them wondering if this was a permanent change.

Did Instagram Get Rid Of Notes?

No, Instagram did not get rid of Notes.

Although many users have struggled to find the Notes feature, this isn’t because Instagram has binned it.

Looking at Downdetector, Instagram has had multiple outage issues over the last day, which will mean that some won’t be able to use it as normal. Whilst some have only noticed Notes to be affected, others haven’t been able to log in at all.

Though this is still annoying, fans of the new feature can rest assured that Notes haven’t gone permanently. Currently, Instagram has not announced any plans to remove Notes, especially as it was only implemented towards the end of 2022.

If your issues are caused because of problems on Instagram’s end, then hopefully they will be fixed quickly.

Potential Fixes If Notes Have Disappeared

It might not be the app’s fault if Notes have disappeared and could be fixed on your end. Even if it is the former, it’s best to know you’ve done everything you can to resolve the problem before complaining.

If you’ve never had Notes and are wondering if that’s a glitch, it may be because you’re in an area of the world where it isn’t available yet. As mentioned, it was only released late last year, so hasn’t been dished out to all Instagram users. Unfortunately, it might just be a case of waiting patiently for Instagram Notes.

However, if you’ve had access before and all of a sudden it’s disappeared, then that’s a different problem altogether. What you should know, is that Notes only appear if your Instagram status is active. This can easily be checked in the privacy tab of the app’s settings. Go down to Activity Status, which you can then toggle on. Now, your Notes should reappear.

We always recommend ensuring you have the latest version of the app, which you can check through the App Store or Google Play. Here, you’ll be able to turn on automatic updates so you never have to miss out. If there is a small bug with the app, then it’s very possible that updating it will fix it. You should also clear your Instagram cache, which can be done through your settings. If this is storing old data then it might be running an old version or slowing down the application.

If you’re still finding that Instagram Notes have disappeared, then try restarting your device or deleting and re-installing the app as one last hurrah.

By doing all of this, you should find that Instagram Notes is working as it should when you log into Instagram!
