Although the app is prompting us to be as candid as possible, it’s never the first try that gets uploaded for your friends to see. However, that means that your friends will see that you’ve had multiple attempts. Whilst you can’t hide your retake number, you can hide your retakes on BeReal.
The concept behind BeReal is to upload a photo from your front camera and back camera the moment you’re notified. Its purpose is to keep away from editing, and manipulating and to show other users that we aren’t always doing something glamorous. However, sometimes you don’t want your friends to know just how many times you had to take your photo.
Hiding Retakes On BeReal
Unfortunately, there is no way to hide your retake number from your friends once it has been uploaded. However, there are ways around it so all your attempts don’t show up. According to TechBriefly, there are a few different ways to hide retakes on BeReal, so try some of the following if you’re really stuck.
The first thing to try is immediately closing the app once you have taken the attempt. This doesn’t mean just going off of it, but actually going to where all your open apps are and closing it properly. Give it a few moments and then go back to the app. BeReal should then believe that the photo was never taken, so won’t count towards your retakes.
If that doesn’t work, then try the good ol’ method of turning your phone off and then back on again. This will close down everything on your phone and should reset the app.

Though the above methods should work, clearing your cookies and caches for BeReal. Go off the app (without uploading of course) and head to your settings. Scroll until you find the app and then select storage. Once you clear that then your retakes shouldn’t count. If you want to do a proper job of it then you’ll have to delete and reinstall the BeReal app.
How To See How Many Retakes On BeReal
If you’re simply curious about how many retakes you or others took on the app, then BeReal has the retake count next to each upload for all your followers to see. Simply click the three dots next to the username and you’ll get their retake statistics. This includes how many retakes they took, the number of comments they have and realmojis.
The social media app has this so users are discouraged to keep retaking their photos. The aim is to keep uploads as authentic as possible. If everyone was retaking their upload dozens of times, then the point of the app becomes a little redundant.
The retake number isn’t blatantly obvious if you’re only scrolling. People can only find it if they are actively looking for it. Still, if you’re trying to keep that number down, you now know how to hide retakes on BeReal.
