Jasmyne Jeffery May 19, 2023

Everybody wants to study somewhere highly regarded. If you’re thinking of taking on Economics, then here are the top UK universities for Economics to help you decide where to go.

Even if it shouldn’t, knowing how well a university is regarded is important to making your decision as to where to study. Especially if the subject you’re interested in is competitive or considered fairly difficult. That’s exactly the case with economics, with some of the most prestigious unis making it onto this list.

The Top UK Universities For Economics

According to the Complete University Guide, these are the top five ranking universities for Economics in the UK in 2023.

5. University College London

Dropping a place but remaining in the top five is UCL. With an overall score of 89 per cent, here is how it scores in the different categories:

  • Entry standards: 91 per cent.
  • Student satisfaction: 75 per cent.
  • Research quality: 90 per cent.
  • Graduate prospects: 91 per cent

The university is largely let down by its student satisfaction marks, but it still has an impressive place on the list.

4. University of Warwick

The Russell Group university gets an impressive 91 per cent overall, despite also dropping a place in the ranking since last year. Let’s take a look at the individual categories:

  • Entry standards: 85 per cent.
  • Student satisfaction: 81 per cent.
  • Research quality: 92 per cent.
  • Graduate prospects: 93 per cent.

The University of Warwick performs best in graduate prospects, making it a great choice for those wishing to study outside of London.

Into The Top Three

3. London School of Economics and Politics

It’s no surprise that this university makes it onto the top UK universities for Economics. After all, it’s in its name. Despite only making it to number three in the rankings, London School of Economics and Politics has jumped two places in 2023.

2. University of Oxford

Making it to the top two of the best universities for Economics in the UK is Oxford, which is another one that isn’t particularly surprising. It gets an impressive 97 per cent overall, however, one of its categories is not applicable, so the information is less insightful.

  • Entry standards: 96 per cent.
  • Student satisfaction: N/A.
  • Research quality: 87 per cent.
  • Graduate prospects: 96 per cent.

Studying Economics is one of those courses which will help you land a career quite quickly. With graduate prospects at 96 per cent, the University of Oxford could help boost that even more.

Good luck getting into the competitive university if this is your choice!

  • Entry standards: 100 per cent.
  • Student satisfaction: N/A.
